Mattress Mart has called Southwest Michigan home since 1992. Our stores, employees and customers are part of these communities, and over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to support local families, veterans, schools and organizations doing good work close to home.
Some of those relationships have now lasted for decades.
For more than 30 years, Mattress Mart has participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and served as a local donation location. It’s one of our longest-running community traditions, helping collect new toys for children and families throughout the area during the holiday season. A home isn’t much of a home when there’s nothing in it. Partners in Housing Transition helps formerly homeless individuals and families turn empty living spaces into homes by providing basic furniture and household necessities.
Mattress Mart has worked with Partners in Housing Transition for more than 15 years, helping provide beds for local families while saving the organization more than $45,000. We’re proud to continue supporting an organization that puts those resources directly to work helping people in our own community.

Veterans Helping Veterans works directly with veterans and their families throughout Southwest Michigan, including those facing homelessness, displacement or difficult transitions.
Mattress Mart has donated more than 50 mattress sets to Veterans Helping Veterans to help provide something very basic but very important: a decent place to sleep. We’re proud of the relationship and hope that number keeps growing.

Not every opportunity to help comes through a formal program. Over the years, we’ve supported local schools, fundraisers, community organizations and families who simply found themselves needing a hand.
That has included donating mattresses to local families displaced by house fires, supporting school and community fundraisers, contributing to organizations such as Kalamazoo County Silent Observer, and partnering with local restaurants during COVID to provide lunches for essential workers.
We don’t keep score because that’s not really the point. When there’s an opportunity to use what we have—a mattress, a gift certificate, our stores as a collection point, or simply some money—to do something useful close to home, we try to help when we can.
