Therapedic Braeside Firm

The BackSense Braeside Firm is one of our go-to “entry level but still real mattress” options. It has a firmer, flatter feel on top with a Pocketed innerspring core, a gel memory foam lumbar strip, and a high-density support layer, so you get decent pressure relief without a lot of sink. We often recommend it for kids, college beds, guest rooms, and lake cottages and RV’s—places where you want something supportive and durable, but don’t want or need a huge investment.

Therapedic BackSense Braeside Firm

Overview / description
The BackSense Braeside Firm is one of our most popular “starter” mattresses because it feels like a real bed, not a stiff board or flimsy promo special. It uses a pocketed innerspring for basic full-body support, then adds a gel visco lumbar layer and a high-density support foam on top, which keeps the feel firm but not punishing. At about 11″ tall, it’s easy to sheet, available in several odd sizes, and holds up well in guest rooms, kids’ rooms, college housing, and second homes.

Best for

  • Kids, teens, and college students, who need a firm but not rock-hard mattress

  • Guest rooms, RVs, lake cottages, and second bedrooms where you want a supportive, budget-friendly bed

  • Sleepers who prefer a flatter, firmer surface with just a bit of contour at the lumbar

Key features

  • Firm comfort with some cushion at the surface, thanks to quilt foam plus a gel memory-foam lumbar strip

  • Pocketed spring system for “entry-adult” support at a value price
