Heavy-Duty Bedding (HD), Capitol Bedding

Capitol Bedding Heritage Plush Latex

Heritage Latex Plush is our softer, more pressure-relieving Heritage latex mattress offering from Capitol, built with an organic cotton, channel-quilted cover and ½” of Joma wool for breathable, temperature-steady comfort. Wool helps manage moisture and adds a resilient, cushioned surface feel, while the softer latex layers deliver buoyant pressure relief without the slow, “stuck” sensation of memory foam. The proven 2536 support core keeps the mattress stable and durable, and the full 12″ build flexes exceptionally well on adjustable bases with a clean, smooth profile.

Capitol Bedding Heritage Plush Latex

Heritage Latex Plush is for sleepers who love the natural, buoyant feel of latex but want a gentler, more pressure-relieving surface. The comfort story starts with a natural organic cotton cover and a channel-quilt design that helps the mattress articulate cleanly on an adjustable base. That channel construction also reduces the “pot belly” effect some beds can show when elevated, so the surface stays smoother and the upholstery layers stay better aligned with the base.

Right beneath the cover is ½” of Joma wool, which adds a subtle cushion and helps regulate the sleep environment. Wool naturally buffers temperature changes, helps manage moisture, and adds a resilient, breathable feel that keeps the surface from feeling flat or clammy over time. It also supports a clean materials story thanks to wool’s naturally flame-resistant properties.

Where this mattress really earns its long-term comfort is in the latex comfort system. The Plush uses two 3″ latex layers for a full 6″ of latex up top. This matters because the top layers take the brunt of daily compression—the part of the bed most responsible for resisting early softening and body impressions. Latex is not just fast-responding; it’s exceptionally durable and elastic, so it rebounds night after night instead of packing down the way lighter, lower-density foams often do. You get quick response for easy movement and rolling around, avoiding the felling of being “stuck” in a mattress.  Plus deep, even pressure relief that stays more consistent over time because the material is inherently resilient.

Underneath, Capitol’s 2536 polyurethane foam core provides a stable, tried-and-true foundation. The combination is the real story here: a thick, durable latex comfort stack for long-term surface integrity, anchored by a proven support core for alignment and structural longevity.

Feel & best For

  • Overall Feel: plush, buoyant, and pressure-relieving with less “stuck” sensation than memory foam.

  • Best For: side sleepers and combination sleepers who want deeper shoulder/hip relief while still feeling supported.

  • Also Works For: back sleepers who prefer a softer surface and lighter-to-average weight sleepers looking for natural materials.

  • Not Ideal For: I can’t think of anyone this wouldn’t be ideal for.

Key Construction & Materials

  • Natural Organic Cotton cover: breathable, soft-to-the-touch, and helps the surface feel cooler and less synthetic.

  • Channel Quilt: designed to articulate cleanly on an adjustable base and reduce the “pot belly” effect when elevated, keeping the surface smoother and the upholstery better aligned with the base.

  • ½” Joma Wool: adds subtle surface cushioning, helps buffer temperature swings, manages moisture, and contributes to long-term surface resilience.

  • Latex Comfort System (6″ total): two 3″ layers tuned softer for Plush. Latex offers fast response for easy movement and, just as important, strong durability in the upper comfort layers—where long-term resistance to softening and body impressions matters most.

  • 2536 Poly Foam Core: a long-established, trusted support material chosen for consistent stability and a proven track record of durability.

The Capitol Difference

For over 50 years Capitol Bedding has been crafting high-quality mattresses rooted in the commitment to providing durable, comfortable sleep solutions. Their innovative approach began with the decision to create a one-sided, no-flip mattress using top-tier materials, particularly high-density foam. This led to the adoption of premium foams like ‘P2536’ (2.5lb density, 36ILD (Initial Load Deflection)), ‘P2560’ (2.5lb 60ILD), and ‘P2426′(2.4lb 26ILD), each tailored to deliver different levels of support and comfort. These materials have stood the test of time, ensuring Capitol Bedding’s products remain among the most resilient and comfortable on the market.

What sets Capitol Bedding apart is their dedication to using higher density foams that outperform the industry standard. Unlike most mattresses that lose their firmness and support over time, Capitol Bedding’s designs use 1.8lb, 2.4 lb and 2.5 lb foams, which experience significantly less firmness loss even after years of use. Their foams, sourced from Future Foam, one of the top producers in the U.S., are chosen for their exceptional quality and longevity, contributing to a mattress that retains its original feel and support far longer than most.

Key Benefits:

  • High-Density Foam:
    • Lasts longer and maintains support better than standard foams.
  • Foam Types:
    • P2536 (durability), P2560 (firm feel), P2426 (soft feel).
  • Firmness Retention: WHAT CAPITOL USES
    • 2.5 lb foam: 8% firmness loss after 10 years.
    • 2.4 lb foam: 9% firmness loss after 10 years.
    • 1.8 lb foam : 20% firmness loss. (1.5lb and below are typically used in most other manufacturer’s beds)
  • Compared to: WHAT OTHER COMPANIES USE – INCLUDING LARGE WELL-KNOWN ONES
    • 1.2 lb foam: 38% firmness loss.
    • 1.0 lb foam: 42% firmness loss.
  • Premium Materials:
    • Sourced from Future Foam, a top family-owned U.S. producer of Flexible Polyurethane Foams.

While the use of these premium materials comes at a higher cost, Capitol Bedding believes that better foam makes better, and longer lasting, mattresses—and better mattresses lead to better sleep. Their investment in high-density foam ensures that every customer experiences a durable, supportive mattress that enhances the quality of their sleep for years to come.
